Cloning, Changing Taken Decisions

Learn how to clone/unclone nodes and entire branches and manually change your taken/untaken decisions.

Cloning

A fundamental disadvantage of decision trees is that they must be edited on each branch in each additional level of detail, even if the same contents apply on these several branches.

Insight Tree overcomes this disadvantage with its cloning function. Follow two simple steps

  1. Right mouse click on a node symbol and click "Define as clone master...".

  2. Right mouse click on another node symbol and click "Define as clone".

Any changes that apply to the clone master will also apply to its clone.

Identifying clones

Clones are easy to identify:

  1. Their numbers are identical with the clone master instead of following on the number of the previous node.

  2. Clones have own styles assigned.

  3. Clones do not have description boxes.

  4. The right mouse click pop-up menu has many commands greyed-out.

Unlinking clones

Right mouse click on a cloned node symbol and select "Unlink clone".

Changing taken decisions

In order to change a decision, right mouse click the node you want to select and choose Take this option.

If the node is set to Choose multiple, the command is changed to Toggle this option, which allows selecting or unselecting each option.

You can alternatively choose Take this path, which selects all decisions as well which are placed left from this decision. Closed decisions will not be changed unless you allow this explicitly in the following dialog:
